Sean Simpson is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Lanzatech, a company working toward recycling carbon from industrial plants and turning it into fuel and chemicals that can help power their processes. For their innovative work in sustainability, Lanzatech was honored by Fast Company as one of its Most Innovative Companies. Simpson is originally from the United Kingdom, but lived in various countries around the world before becoming a New Zealand citizen. He is also an accomplished scientist, with a PhD in Plant Biochemistry, and he employed his depth of scientific knowledge to found Lanzatech in 2005.
